After a 17-year development phase, the renowned fan fiction platform Archive of Our Own (AO3) has officially concluded its open beta stage. Established in 2009 by the Organization for Transformative Works, this nonprofit service reflected on its origins in a recent statement, recalling how initial membership required manual invitations from volunteers. At its beta debut, the site managed just 347 user profiles and approximately 6,600 submissions. Presently, it boasts a community of 10 million members and archives over 17 million fan compositions.
